Different species of fish and their memory

Anna Aslam; BBC Correspondent

Professor Colum Brown: Cu lum has greatly contributed to the study of fish behavior throughout his career. His main focus is understanding fish behavior and applying it to fisheries science. He is known for showing that fish are intelligent. Most of his 130+ research papers and many of his book chapters are about fish.Culum's work has improved our knowledge of how fish think and act. He is a strong advocate for fish intelligence. His research primarily focuses on fish and has made a significant impact in the field.

The interactive lesson is inspired by Cambridge receptive skill lesson framework. It begins with a lead-in to introduce the topic (the tool I use, H5P, doesn't allow for a personalized lead-in as would be ideal, but at least it gives the student a general idea of what they will listen to). This is followed by a general listening activity, the GIST, for an initial contact with the audio. Next, there are some vocabulary exercises, the pre-teaching blocking lexis, which will be necessary for fully understanding the audio. After that, the audio is "sliced" (the language slices) with a focus on specific words, simulating an IELTS exercise.
